Penn Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1878 and is the largest musical organization on campus. The ensemble rehearses four hours a week and performs a wide variety of repertoire in Irvine Auditorium. Their current director is Thomas Hong, past conductor of Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Seattle Symphony Orchestras and recipient of the Leopold Stokowski Fellowship and Whitaker Opera Prize. Mask and Wig has been entertaining audiences at Penn and around the country since 1889 with their blend of comedy, music, and dancing.
Without a Net are Penn's improv comedy troupe, performing both long and short-form shows at numerous venues.
